I agree with April whole heartedly. Someone has to take the power away from the banks and return it back to the people! Banks got a bail out, who is here to help the borrowers. Well, I am currently doing foreclosure prevention and dealing with large financial institutions on a daily basis and I can tell you that their practices and customer service are deplorable. The banks ultimatly do not want to help a borrower who is heading into the train wreck known as foreclosure. It's intimidating for a person who is not well versed in financial lingo and banks use that against the borrower. I can also tell you that as a borrower trying to do a loan modification on you're own the banks will give you a modification after a tremendous amount of work and frustration that is nowhere near what you can get using an attorney or a foreclosure prevention service. Don't get me wrong, there are scams out there but there are also foreclosure prevention services that really work. It's up to the consumer to do the research before embarking on a loan modification process. You can indeed save hundreds of thousands of dollars over the life of your mortgage working with someone who is well-versed in the modification process. Hello....people are foreclosing for a reason. Incase you haven't noticed the economy is bad. These borrowers aren't sitting around with money in the bank and saying "Well I'm just not going to make my mortgage payment today." This is not the case. Lost jobs, companies imploding at an alarming rate, severe illnesses, no health insurance and government programs being stretched to their capacity are all the perfect brew for foreclosure.
